The fund was established in 2009 under the Urban Financing Partnership Facility to raise and invest cofinancing from development partner agencies to support the implementation of Strategy 2020 through the provision of grant funds for technical assistance and investments focused on providing pro- poor or environmental benefits.
Sweden
Project implementation, supervision, and monitoring will be conducted by user departments following ADB’s standard policies, procedures, and guidelines.
ADB's Urban Infrastructure Steering Committee makes recommendations on fund proposals.
General Criteria:
(a) Be consistent with the country partnership strategy and results framework;
(b) Be consistent with the objectives of ADB’s Urban Initiatives under the Strategy 2020;
(c) Introduce innovative solutions;
(d) Adopt a participatory approach;
(e) Be catalytic;
(f) Have high demonstration value in the sector;
(g) Have good potential for replication and scalability in the country and/or region; and
(h) Have potential for partner cooperation
Specific Criteria
(a) Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Projects
(b) Urban Environmental Transportation Services Projects
(c) Urban Environmental Water and Wastewater Services Projects
(d) Urban Environmental Solid Waste Management Services Projects
(e) District Heating and Cooling Services Projects
(f) Urban Renewal Projects
All ADB developing member countries are eligible to receive support from the fund.
