Solomon Islands
Solomon Islands submitted its first Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in 2016, followed by an updated version in 2021. Most recently, in August 2025, Solomon Islands submitted its NDC 3.0.
By 2035, the country aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 97.1 thousand tonnes CO2e (-8%) under a “with measures” scenario and 208.7 thousand tonnes CO2e (-17%) under a “with additional measures” scenario.
The NDC covers mitigation in key sectors including energy, road transport, domestic water-borne navigation, solid waste and agriculture, with additional carbon removals from forest lands.
Solomon Islands’ NDC 3.0 also identifies climate-vulnerable sectors for adaptation, including water and sanitation, health, agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure and education — aligning with the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) currently under development.
