Overview

Tajikistan submitted its updated first NDC in 2021. The updated NDC sets an unconditional target of reducing emission by 30-40% and a conditionally target of reducing emissions by 40-50% by 2030 as compared 1990 levels. The updated NDC covers the agriculture, energy, forestry and biodiversity, industry and construction, and transport and infrastructure sectors, as well as adaptation. Tajikistan has also developed an NDC Implementation Plan and will finalize the NDC Climate Finance Plan in 2023.

Partnership Engagement

Membership: member since 2019
Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Tajikistan has requested support related to designing and improving policies, strategies, plans, and legislation; mainstreaming NDCs into national planning and budgeting; improving the quality and ambition of the NDCs; improving coordination and whole-of-society approach; strengthening monitoring, evaluation reporting, and verification (MRV) systems; delivering capacity building and knowledge products; and preparing NDC-related projects and pipeline for investments. With Partnership support, Tajikistan has developed an NDC Action Plan for the period 2020-2030 covering the energy, industrial processes and product use, agriculture, forestry, and other land use, waste, transport and infrastructure, and industry and construction sectors. In addition, partners have supported various activities, including NDC revision and NDC Implementation Plan development through the Climate Action Enhancement Package, the establishment of NDC Secretariat, and the development of the NDC Climate Finance Plan.
