The objective of the Energizing Agriculture Assessment Tool (EAAT) is to allow users to make a primarily energy assessment of the production and processing of an agricultural value chain. The said evaluation is carried out through a comparison between alternative equipment, techniques, and technologies alternatives for each stage in the process that are shown in parallel with the current situation of the agro-industry. Taking both scenarios, current and intervened, the impact that each one has on key decision parameters is shown in the first instance, energetic accompanied by other economic, environmental, technical, and social parameters. The results obtained through this tool can be used for political decision making about agricultural practices in the region or country, as well as decision making at the level industries that want to improve their process performance. It is important to remember that the tool is mainly of an energetic nature. Therefore, the economic parameters do not represent an objective, but serve as an instrument for evaluating the impact that the optimization of certain stages in on the process has on the costs of the agro-industry.
