A gender analysis is a systematic analytical process used to identify, understand, and describe gender differences and the relevance of gender roles and power dynamics in a specific context. This document provides guidance for gender analysis at the activity or project level, including relevant USAID Automated Directives System (ADS) operational policy segments. Guidance includes where information for a gender analysis can be collected and what questions should be asked during the analysis with sample questions for a entrepreneurship program across the six domains of a gender analysis (access; knowledge, beliefs, and perception; practices and participation; time and space; legal rights and status; power and decision-making) provided. Following this is guidance for incorporation of the gender analysis into the project design.
