Participatory Capacity and Vulnerability Analysis: A practitioner's guide is a risk analysis process designed to help staff and partner organizations engage with communities in contexts where natural disasters are significant drivers of poverty and suffering. The PCVA guide is designed to reduce a community's disaster risk in a participatory manner. Steps include (1) making preparations, (2) collecting secondary data, (3) beginning work with the community, (4) analyzing hazards, the impact of climate change, vulnerabilities, and capacities, (5) prioritizing risk, (6) developing a risk reduction action plan, (7) putting the action plan into place.
