The Climate Finance Training (CliFiT) is an interactive training package designed to support partner countries in strengthening their capacities to develop, finance, and implement climate projects. It equips technical staff and decision-makers in developing countries and emerging economies with the knowledge needed to navigate the complexity of climate finance. The training provides an overview of key financing options, access modalities, and funding requirements, while also addressing challenges related to national public finance systems and their ability to absorb climate funding. It supports national climate change focal points and relevant government institutions in understanding funding priorities and identifying pathways to enhance climate finance readiness.
CliFiT covers a broad range of funding sources and mechanisms, with a particular focus on the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The training package includes introductory modules, as well as specialised modules on adaptation finance, private sector engagement, sector-specific approaches, and green public financial management. CliFiT is implemented on demand by qualified trainers in virtual or in-person settings.
