Enhancing Nationally Determined Contributions Through Protected Areas

This tool aims to encourage revision of NDCs through protected and conserved areas in 5 ways. The recommendations are to acknowledge the role that protected and conserved areas play, to increase coverage of protected and conserved areas and set specific time bound targets, clearly articulate role of protected and conserved areas in helping adapt to climate change, integrate carbon sequestration benefits of protected and conserved areas, and commit to managing protected and conserved areas while increasing technical and financial support to improve their management. The tool presents the study and analysis that lead to these 5 recommendations and then transforms into a discussion about the recommendations.
