This publication analyses the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement policy benchmarks for moving towards a sustainable present and future - in order to propose specific targets for the Sustainable Development Goals that promote the construction of a more just society – from economic, environmental, and gendered perspectives. By systematizing experiences, this publication gathers evidence on concrete alternatives to the dominant development model. These proven community and context-based alternatives already exist on the ground, where gender-just solutions for mitigating climate change come to life; they recognize women in all their diversity as vital agents of change, build people powered democracy, and stand in contrast with individualistic or profit-oriented climate solutions.
