Morocco flag



Morocco submitted its revised NDC in 2021. The country commits to an unconditional emissions reduction target of 18.3% and conditional target of 45.5% by 2030 as compared to a 2010 baseline. The revised NDC covers mitigation actions for energy, transport, agriculture, industry and forestry as well as priority adaptation measures for meteorology, agriculture, water, fishing and aquaculture, forestry, vulnerable environments, health, housing, territorial and urban planning. The cost of NDC implementation is estimated at USD 38.8 billion for mitigation measures and USD 40 billion for adaptation measures.

Partnership Engagement
  • Membership: member since 2016
  • Governance: Morocco served as a country member to the NDC Partnership Steering Committee from 2017 until 2019
  • Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Morocco has requested support related to designing or improving policies, strategies, plans, and legislation, improving the quality and ambition of the NDC, improving coordination and whole-of-society approach, capacity building and knowledge products, preparation of NDC-related projects and pipelines for investment, mobilization of financial resources for NDC Investment projects, LT-LEDS development and/or enhancement. In addition, partners are supporting activities, including the identification of opportunities for the development of projects for Nature Based Solutions, the development of a portfolio of project factsheets under the NDC Investment plan, and the development of a Project Preparation Facility.
