Gabon
Gabon submitted its first Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in 2016, followed by an updated version in 2022. Most recently, in December 2025, Gabon submitted its NDC 3.0.
In its NDC 3.0, the country commits to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 23% below business-as-usual (BAU) by 2035 with existing measures and up to 40% with additional measures.
Mitigation priorities include reducing emissions from energy, transport, buildings and industrial processes and product use (IPPU), improving solid waste management and strengthening forest conservation, sustainable land use and carbon sinks.
Adaptation priorities include climate resilient urban development and infrastructure, water resource management and flood risk reduction, climate resilient agriculture and food security, coastal zone protection and marine ecosystems and strengthening resilience in health and other climate-sensitive sectors.
The NDC 3.0 process was led by the National Climate Council (CNC).

Climate Commitments
- Membership: member since 2018
- Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Gabon has requested support related to designing or improving policies, strategies, plans, and legislation; mainstreaming NDCs into national/subnational planning and budgeting; improving the quality and ambition of the NDC; preparation of NDC-related projects and pipelines for investment; and private sector engagement to implement NDCs. Partners have supported various activities, including NDC revision supported through the Climate Action Enhancement Package.
