Overview

Cameroon submitted its updated first NDC in 2021. The country commits to an unconditional emissions reduction target of 12% and a conditional target of 23% reduction in emission by 2030 as compared to the 2010 base year. The updated NDC prioritizes the agriculture, industry, forestry and other land use, energy, and waste sectors. The total cost of NDC implementation is estimated to be USD 38 million.

Climate Commitments

Partnership Engagement
  • Membership: member since 2017
  • Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Cameroon has requested support related to designing or improving policies, strategies, plans, and legislation; improving the quality and ambition of the NDC; designing or strengthening monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and verification (MRV systems); capacity building and knowledge products; preparation of NDC-related projects and pipelines for investment; and LT-LEDS development and/or enhancement. In addition, partners have supported various activities, including the development of an adaptation implementation plan for 2021-2050, the development of a mitigation implementation plan for 2021-2050, and a plan for mobilizing funds to enable financing for project pipelines.
