Transitioning to Zero-Emission Bus Operations

Zero-emission bus technology is emerging as a realistic procurement option for transit agencies looking to reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) from their fleet. However, there are challenges with the adoption of zero-emission technology, including installing supporting infrastructure, identifying specific operational considerations related to deployment, and interdisciplinary planning. The purpose of this toolkit is to help transit agencies and related organizations understand the potential benefits of zero-emission buses and inform the early
phases of decision-making related to the procurement of zero-emission buses. This document contains information about existing zero-emission bus technology, a transit planning questionnaire, and case studies on select existing zero-emission bus deployments.
