The CCAC Temperature Pathway Tool is an easy-to-use tool for translating emissions scenarios into temperature pathways. There are two functions in the tool:
- Analysis of temperature pathways from emissions of Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs).
- Analysis of temperature pathways from uploaded emissions. The Pathway Tool allows technical audiences to quickly assess the global temperature response of emissions scenarios and download automatically generated results.
The tool translates emissions into temperature based on coefficients developed by CCAC Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) Chair, Drew Shindell, using Absolute Global Temperature Potential (AGTP) values of all pollutants for each future year that are similar to those published for a few pollutants and a few time horizons in the IPCC WGI Fifth Assessment Report.
The CCAC Temperature Pathway tool is a key component of the Coalition's toolkit for the Multiple Benefits Pathway Framework, which helps countries and regions analyze and compare the climate and clean air benefits of greenhouse gas and air pollution mitigation strategies, and track their impacts over multiple timescales.
