Kausal Watch is an open source state-of-the-art product for managing the implementation of a climate action plan within a city, a regional/national authority and across different levels of government. It also enables real-time holistic communication of climate actions to all the stakeholders e.g. politicians, employees, citizens and companies. Kausal Watch can be connected to Kausal's other product, Kausal Paths which is for evaluating potential actions and assessing future scenarios.
The platform includes a public user interface (UI), which all the stakeholders can browse on the internet. The public UI is customized to have the look and feel of the client’s website and is typically published in the client’s web domain. The data platform is the master version of the action plan and all the information related to implementing and measuring those actions. It replaces a traditional large spreadsheet table. Once the Kausal Watch platform is set up, the employees who are in charge of advancing individual climate actions sign in to the data platform with the same username and password as they normally use to sign in to the organization's other service, and update the information.
It is possible to have users and organizations across different levels of government, and the main responsible organization, be it at the national or sub-national level, can be indicated clearly. Shared indicators can be associated with actions, and correlation between actions and indicators can be shown, enabling alignment of goals and synergy between national and local policies. With the public facing dashboard, such alignment and collaboration are made transparent, increasing the trust and public acceptance towards the policies.
