COP30: Advancing Integrity, Biodiversity and Innovation in Article 6 Implementation

Delivering the goals of climate mitigation and nature conservation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement requires both strong governance frameworks and catalytic private sector engagement.  The session will highlight how robust national systems, and voluntary standards can ensure that carbon markets deliver real, measurable climate benefits while safeguarding biodiversity and local communities. At the same time, it will showcase the WALD Innovation Facility — an initiative implemented by IUCN and funded by BMZ through KfW — as a model for channelling private finance into transformative carbon crediting projects. Representatives from the public and private sectors will discuss how governance and innovation together can uphold market integrity, drive investment, and scale projects that achieve high-quality emissions reductions, foster nature-positive outcomes, and advance sustainable, community-centered development.
