Country Engagement Specialist

Melissa Capcha is a Country Engagement Specialist in the NDC Partnership Support Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean regions. She engages directly with Government counterparts and other stakeholders to assess climate-related needs and identify opportunities for collaboration around these needs across sectors, regions, and international partners. In addition, she provides technical assistance to the Partnership members to support countries in aspects such as policy, NDC strategy formulation and implementation, and resource mobilization, among others.  

Melissa led different climate initiatives in Peru in collaboration with NGOs and public and private sectors. Her work has focused on creating knowledge and adaptation alternatives for groups affected by climate change at the local level. She has also promoted circular economy initiatives in cities in Peru and Germany. In addition, Melissa worked as a consultant for international organizations focused on the climate and SDG agenda.

Melissa holds an MSc in Sustainability, Society, and Environment from the University of Kiel in Germany and a BA in Environmental Engineering. Moreover, she was awarded scholarships for training in diverse climate topics in Costa Rica, Indonesia, Ghana, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Austria, and Russia due to her leadership in Peru and Latin America.
