Unlocking Ambition: Explore the New Finance Route in the NDC 3.0 Navigator

The “Unlocks Finance” Route is now available on the NDC 3.0 Navigator. It offers strategies for countries to improve access to climate finance as they develop and implement their NDCs 3.0, the next round of NDCs due in 2025.

Launched in June by the NDC Partnership and the UNFCCC secretariat, with technical inputs from the UNDP, WRI and over 30 other partners, the NDC 3.0 Navigator is an interactive online tool that helps countries raise ambition and accelerate the implementation of their NDCs 3.0.

Now available in both English and Spanish, the Navigator presents seven "Routes to Ambitious and Implementable NDCs." The Routes provide a common framework for mapping nationally relevant, impactful approaches to strengthening NDC 3.0 submissions. With the release of "Unlocks Finance," all seven Routes are now available.

Securing finance at the necessary speed and scale is crucial to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. Unlocking finance for climate action requires a comprehensive understanding of both domestic and international investment needs and barriers. Key steps include scaling up climate finance, redirecting public funds towards low-carbon and climate-resilient activities and strengthening enabling environments for investment. The Navigator can now play an integral part of this process by assisting countries in identifying how NDCs 3.0 support access to climate finance, facilitating effective NDC implementation.
