September Training Opportunities with the World Bank in Shanghai and Bogotá

The World Bank’s Global Debt and Climate Action Peer Exchange (CAPE) is organizing two trainings in the month of September.

The first, co-organized with the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute, is titled “Fiscal Policy for Climate Action” and will take place 12-15 September in Shanghai. The objective of this course is to present the impact of climate-smart fiscal policies relating to taxes, energy subsidy reforms, and innovative debt financing to facilitate countries achieving their NDC commitments. The course thus aims to share experiences among participant countries to understand how fiscal and debt policy can be utilized to attain the goals committed as part of their NDCs.

There are no registration fees for the training, although registration is required.

CAPE is partnering with Colombia’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit to offer a course on the “Environmental Fiscal Reforms for Low-Carbon Growth” workshop on 28-29 September in Bogotá. The objective is to provide a forum for discussing ongoing environmental fiscal reforms in the Latin America region. The agenda will include presentations and panel discussions on:

  • Lessons from the regional and international experience with the implementation of carbon pricing mechanisms;
  • Policy and fiscal instruments to unlock private finance for green investments;
  • Challenges to access international climate-related finance;
  • Policies to halt deforestation and achieve forest conservation efforts.

Online registration can be completed at this link.
