This document sets out how WaterAid programmes can analyse the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) system through a climate resilience lens. This can help to integrate climate resilient WASH into established system strengthening ways of working. This analysis should complement other contextual analysis, including analyses of political economies, stakeholders and gender equality. An ongoing analysis of context is key to supporting WaterAid’s adaptive programming.
Climate-resilient WASH requires approaches that enable systems to persist, adapt and transform in the face of uncertainty and threats associated with climate change. This document focuses on an approach to analysing the WASH system through a climate lens as an entry point to guide programming and policy decision-making.
