The Gender Equality Social Inclusion (GESI) Toolkit is a practical resource designed to help water infrastructure projects integrate gender equality considerations into every stage of a project, with an emphasis on the planning phase.
Gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) are a central concern in water services, water resources management and other productive activities. The GESI Toolkit is designed to help water infrastructure projects integrate gender equality considerations into every stage of a project, with an emphasis on the planning phase. It is a practical resource that includes key tools and information that will enable users to conduct gender analyses before, during and after field work has been completed – and is informed by the practical experience of several water projects implemented within the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Although the toolkit has been produced to meet the immediate needs of CRIDF sociologists responsible for conducting social assessments, it can also benefit the wider SADC community, including river basin organisations, government ministries and SADC gender focal points.
