Call Summary

The UK Government, through the Kenya UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK-PACT) country fund, is inviting applications for impactful projects in the Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) sector that align with Kenya’s national climate priorities. It seeks innovative, inclusive, and technically sound proposals in two key areas:

  • Commercial Forestry: Projects that promote sustainable forestry on public, private, and community lands to boost carbon sequestration, responsible land use, and green economic growth.
  • Agroforestry: Initiatives that scale up smallholder agroforestry and nature-based enterprises to restore degraded landscapes, improve livelihoods, and expand value chains.

All proposals must integrate Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and show clear, measurable pathways to climate impact.

For more information, visit the call for proposals page.

Eligibility Criteria

The call for proposals invites projects in the following two areas:

Commercial Forestry:

  • Scale sustainable practices across all land types
  • Enhance carbon sequestration, reduce deforestation
  • Promote land use and economic growth
  • Develop forestry value chains and trade linkages

Smallholder Agroforestry & Nature-Based Enterprises:

  • Build farmer capacity for ecosystem restoration
  • Support climate mitigation and nature-based business models

Applicants may submit proposals for more than one area, but each proposal must focus on only one and will be evaluated independently.

Potential applicants can review the "Eligibility checker" on the call for proposals page to understand if their project is eligible.
