The IKI is a central building block for Germany’s international financing measures for climate action, adaptation to the impacts of climate change and biodiversity conservation in emerging and developing countries. The core of the IKI is to use the projects to support the implementation and ambitious further development of NDCs and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) as well as National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs).
Through the Thematic Call funding instrument, the IKI funds primarily large-volume projects in order to accelerate the transformation towards a sustainable, biodiversity friendly, and low-emission economic and supply structure. Funding or commissioning within the framework of the IKI Thematic Call 2024 is preceded by an ideas competition.
To participate in the ideas competition of this year’s Thematic Call interested implementing organizations are invited to submit a project outline responding to one of the 9 thematic priorities listed below.
The deadline for submitting project outlines for this year’s ideas competition is 18 February 2025, 4 p.m. (CET). Depending on the available funds, one to three projects per thematic priority will be selected. The funding volume provided by the IKI per project can range from 5 to 20 million EUR depending on the thematic priority.
Participation in the ideas competition of the Thematic Call is open to German and international grant recipients as well as to implementing organizations of the German Federal Government.
