Unlocking Adaptation Finance: How the Public Sector Catalyzes Private Investments
As the gap between adaptation needs and available funding continues to grow, mobilizing private capital for climate adaptation has become an increasingly urgent priority. This webinar, the third in a series by UNDP's Adaptation Accelerator Hub, in collaboration with the Center for Access to Climate Finance (hosted by the NDC Partnership Support Unit), will explore how the public sector can catalyze private investment by creating enabling policy, conducive regulatory and institutional frameworks, and financial incentives. Building on earlier discussions on innovative adaptation finance and private sector engagement, this session will highlight the critical role of public policy, climate data, and targeted financial instruments in overcoming barriers to adaptation investment.
Panelists will discuss how public sector actors can use de-risking mechanisms, blended finance, guarantees, and concessional capital to improve investment attractiveness and crowd in private finance. Drawing on practical country experiences, the discussion will explore how partnerships between governments, financiers, and the private sector can accelerate the development of investable pipelines and scale climate resilient investments
