[RESCHEDULED FROM 27 MARCH TO 9 APRIL]

The Raising Ambition through Partnership webinar series highlights successful examples of mitigation and adaptation ambition-raising efforts while promoting exchange and learning to scale impact across the NDC Partnership.

The outcomes of the first Global Stocktake (GST) highlighted the urgency of transitioning away from fossil fuels to align with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C goal. This decade is critical for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and the COP29 outcomes reinforced the call for strengthened NDCs that deliver on the global transition towards clean energy systems and away from fossil fuels.

Meeting the Paris Agreement goals while avoiding an unnecessarily disruptive transition away requires that governments plan for a managed transition from fossil fuels, on the supply and demand side. With NDCs 3.0 due to be submitted this year, governments have an opportunity to set ambitious targets across all sectors and mobilize public and private finance for a just transition away from fossil fuels.

This is the second of two webinars in partnership with the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA), which will convene partner governments and institutions to explore how NDCs 3.0 can incorporate ambitious and actionable pathways for the global transition away from fossil fuels. The first webinar profiled global leadership on the transition with Brazil, Denmark, Kenya and the UN Secretary General’s Climate Action Team, and introduced the BOGA Fund’s NDC window. This second webinar will provide a technical overview with multilateral agencies, business associations, research institutes and implementing partners sharing their experience.

Presenters, panelists and participants will discuss the options and guidance available to governments and their partners, and next steps in terms of analytical, policy and technical work. Governments are invited to share challenges and opportunities for integrating just transitions away from fossil fuels into national climate plans from their perspectives and explore the support available under the BOGA Fund and through the NDC Partnership.
