COP30: NDC Partnership High-Level Event – From Vision to Action: Accelerating NDCs Implementation at Scale

As the world gathers for COP30 in Belém, Brazil, marking the close of the third ambition cycle under the Paris Agreement, the imperative to move from pledges to implementation has never been more pressing. Third-generation Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) bring us closer to the Paris Agreement temperature goals. However, significantly more action is required to keep the global community on track.

Climate action creates new opportunities for economic growth and thriving communities — providing improved access to energy, greater food security, cleaner air, jobs, and resilient infrastructure that enhance livelihoods for all. Realizing these benefits requires systemic change across sectors, strong linkages between national climate and development agendas, and collective action on a global scale. This is the spirit of the mutirão of COP30.

The NDC Partnership — a global coalition of countries and institutions — has supported close to 100 developing countries in formulating their third-generation NDCs, and more than 100 developing countries in turning these plans into action since its inception. The Partnership remains committed to helping countries achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and to demonstrating that a strong NDC 3.0 is a strategic investment in the future.

This event, hosted by Brazil and Denmark as Co-Chairs of the NDC Partnership, will convene countries and partners at COP30 to showcase their efforts to drive sustainable development through ambitious NDCs. Countries will share reflections on their NDC 3.0s and the work ahead to implement them, helping to build momentum to close the gaps necessary to keep 1.5 C within reach. The session will also highlight how technical assistance and capacity building, enabled by international collaboration, elevate ambition in national climate plans and deliver impact at scale.
