This side event at COP30 will explore how higher education institutions can accelerate Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) implementation by embedding sustainability, climate resilience, and green skills within academic systems. It positions universities as catalysts for low-carbon, climate-resilient development by aligning research, curricula, and innovation with NDC priorities in renewable energy, coastal resilience, and sustainable agriculture.

The session will highlight youth perspectives, showcase data from the QS Sustainability Rankings 2025, and draw insights from the Commonwealth Secretariat’s initiatives, including the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub (CCFAH) and the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP). Through this dialogue, the event aims to strengthen collaboration between governments, academia, and youth networks to shape a climate-ready workforce and advance NDC delivery across Commonwealth countries.
