This panel session showcases and discusses the growing opportunities and evolving practices in different countries to leverage Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and climate-related national policies, as well as processes for the many co-benefits of reducing food loss and food waste.

The session will introduce the Global Action Drive (GAD) that brings together several internationally active non-governmental organizations around a shared agenda to accelerate regional and national action on FLW, along with its practical recommendations. This will be followed by speakers from different countries and perspectives to illustrate and discuss how action on FLW presents a win-win-win for people, nature and climate. The event will also underline the linkages with the COP30 Action Agenda and concerted efforts to support countries in accelerating action on FLW.

The session will explore the following points:

Highlight how different countries are moving forward on food loss and waste action in the context of new NDCs. Clarify the multiple benefits of, and ways for, integrating FLW solutions into national implementation plans and strategies.

Practical options and steps to strengthen the integration of FLW in NDCs and related processes, according to local context.
