Details

The session will be set up as an interactive discussion between carbon pricing experts and representatives of developing and emerging economies that are actively working on introducing carbon pricing instruments. Questions that will be addressed in the session include: 

  • How can carbon pricing help to lower GHG emissions and generate climate finance for developing and emerging countries?
  • What are the challenges and solutions for the implementation of CO2 pricing instruments in developing and emerging countries?
  • What influence can CO2 pricing have on other development policy goals (co-benefits and trade-offs) and how can the trade-offs be effectively addressed?
  • How can distributional effects of different pricing and compensation measures be taken into account to promote a Just Transition?
