COP29: Accelerating Climate Investments - Partnering for a Net-Zero Economy
The 2035 NDCs that countries will present next year will serve as the economic blueprints for driving real economy investments necessary for keeping the 1,5°C target within reach. Mobilising private investment, innovation and expertise is crucial to accelerate climate action and fund the transformation to a net-zero economy. Engaging private sector in NDC development, investment planning and implementation is crucial and opens opportunities for aligning private sector interests with policy requirements to overcome investment barriers, managing risks and driving climate aligned investments. This event will convene government representatives, private sector leaders and implementing partners to explore how NDCs and their investment plans can work as frameworks for mobilising private capital and fostering joint investment strategies. Discussions will focus on the opportunities, challenges and policies needed to attract private investments, create the enabling environment for risk mitigation and incentives to ensure business continuity and sustainability. The dialogue will highlight the importance of aligning private investments with countries’ climate goals and explore key solutions for scaling private investment including risk-sharing mechanisms, blended finance and public-private partnerships. Outcome Participants will leave with practical recommendations to enhance private sector engagement, increase investments flows and strengthen collaboration between businesses and policymakers for achieving NDCs.
