COP28: Tackling Climate Change: Nature-based Solutions in the Global South
As the world faces the urgent and multifaceted challenges of climate change, water scarcity, and increasing vulnerabilities to extreme weather events, the need for innovative and sustainable water management solutions has never been more pressing. Nature-based solutions (NBS) offer a promising approach to address these challenges by leveraging the inherent capacity of ecosystems to provide vital services, enhance resilience, and contribute to climate adaptation and mitigation efforts.
The proposed session will explore the critical role of nature-based solutions in climate-resilient water management. By bringing together experts, practitioners, and stakeholders, we aim to foster a dialogue on the potential, best practices, and challenges of incorporating NBS into water resource management strategies, with a focus on achieving sustainability, resilience, and long-term benefits.
This session aims to explore:
- Crucial approaches for adapting to the impacts of climate change and ensuring sustainable water resource management.
- Harnessing indigenous knowledge and exploring community involvement in adaptive water resource management by leveraging the power of nature.
- To identify challenges and barriers to the widespread implementation of NBS in water management and propose solutions to overcome them.
