COP28: The Future of Mitigation - Driving Sectoral Decarbonisation Through Global Mitigation Efforts
Co-organized by: DESNZ (United Kingdom), BMWK (Germany), European Commission, CIFF, Denmark, the Mitigation Action Facility
An agile, high-impact and country-driven fund, the Mitigation Action Facility supports scaleable, replicable sector-wide solutions including pilots that enable Official Development Assistance (ODA)-eligible partner countries to meet their climate goals. Working across three priority sectors (energy, transport, and industry – as well as cross-sectorally), the Facility aims to close the climate financing gap to catalyse transformational change and enhance carbon-neutral development. Following considerable interest in the Facility's 2023 Call for Projects, the event will centre around the announcement for the Facility’s Call for the upcoming year. Demonstrating how its approach to sectoral decarbonisation contributes meaningfully to climate impact mitigation, the Facility will showcase its efforts aligned with NDCs, the UNFCCC and the Breakthrough Agenda. Furthermore, the Facility is set to spotlight best practices and scaling successes from its mature portfolio of projects across its three priority sectors. In addition to a panel discussion featuring key experts, the event will include significant announcements about renewed donor pledges.
