Overview

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines submitted its first NDC in 2016. The country commits to an economy wide emissions reduction target of 22% by 2050 as compared to the business-as-usual scenario. The NDC covers energy, transport, and land use, land use change and forestry. The NDC also outlines strategic interventions for adaptation including increasing public awareness on climate change issues, building resilient infrastructure, protecting marine ecosystems, minimizing climate impacts on agriculture and human health, and developing legislative and regulatory framework for environmental management.

Partnership Engagement
  • Membership: member since 2021
  • Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has requested support related to improving the quality and ambition of its NDC and advancing NDC implementation planning. With Partnership support, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is currently developing a Partnership Plan based on the updated NDC. In addition, partners have supported various activities, including a comprehensive, sustainable approach to implementing key substantive areas of the Paris Agreement with a focus on strengthening institutional arrangements for participation in the Enhanced Transparency Framework.
