Overview
Canada submitted its first Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in 2016, followed by an updated version in 2021. Most recently, in February 2025, Canada submitted its 2035 NDC.
The country aims to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 45-50% below 2005 levels by 2035 on its path to net zero by 2050, codified through the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act.
The 2035 NDC covers agriculture, energy, industrial processes and product use, waste and land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF).
