President Lula of Brazil Highlights the NDC Partnership’s Role in Advancing Climate Action
As Co-Chair of the NDC Partnership, alongside Denmark, Brazil is committed to coordinated climate action. On 13-14 June, Brazil hosted climate leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean in Brasilia for the Brazil-Caribbean Summit to strengthen South-South cooperation — particularly with Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
At the summit, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva highlighted the critical role of the NDC Partnership in providing country support for NDCs 3.0, the next generation of climate pledges: "We know that for developing countries, preparing an NDC is a challenging task. That’s why this year, Brazil joined forces with Denmark to co-chair the NDC Partnership — an initiative that provides technical support to Caribbean countries in formulating and implementing their targets. Advancing climate change adaptation and addressing loss and damage is an existential issue for small island developing states."
