More Than 26 Countries in Latin America and the Caribbean Strengthen Climate Commitments

On August 27-29, the NDC Partnership, UNEP and UNDP, in collaboration with the UNFCCC secretariat, organized the NDCs 3.0 Regional Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), hosted by the Government of Colombia in Bogotá. Representatives from across the region gathered to tackle regional challenges and leverage opportunities in developing and implementing NDCs 3.0, the next round of NDCs due in 2025.

"The LAC Regional Forum comes at a critical time as countries seek to develop NDCs 3.0, the next round of climate pledges due in 2025 and the third round due under the Paris Agreement ambition-raising cycle," said NDC Partnership Global Director Pablo Vieira. "Colombia’s leadership in advancing climate action serves as clear source of inspiration for the region, as countries look to develop ambitious NDCs 3.0 that align with other national policies, including national biodiversity targets, to drive sustainable development and deliver a just and sustainable future for the region. The NDC Partnership, as a global coalition of developed and developing countries, major international institutions and non-state actors, is committed to supporting countries in driving the implementation of current NDCs, while laying the groundwork for the rapid implementation and financing of ambitious NDCs 3.0."
