Iceland Announces ISK 90 Million to Support Countries’ Climate Commitments Under the Paris Agreement
26 Sept. 2025 – The Government of Iceland has committed ISK 90 million to the NDC Partnership.
The three-year contribution, announced during the UN General Assembly (UNGA), will strengthen the NDC Partnership’s work to support developing countries as they implement their climate pledges — Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
To date, the NDC Partnership has received 7,000 requests for support from over 100 countries, aligning USD 1.8 billion in technical assistance and funding to support their NDC priorities. As countries submit their third-round NDCs, the NDC Partnership will step up its support for countries’ implementation efforts, responding to the specific needs and priorities identified by each country.
Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir: “This contribution to the NDC Partnership is closely aligned with Iceland’s development cooperation policy, which places climate and environmental issues at the core of our efforts — both as standalone goals and as crosscutting priorities. The goals and working methods of the NDC Partnership are well aligned with Iceland’s priorities: focused, practical and aimed at maximizing the impact of each contribution, while supporting long-term climate and development objectives.”
