In a groundbreaking initiative to address global sustainability challenges, The Global Food Banking Network, in partnership with the Global Methane Hub and working with the Carbon Trust, developed the FRAME (Food Recovery to Avoid Methane Emissions) methodology for quantifying the avoided emissions and co-benefits from redirecting food loss and waste to direct human consumption, through food recovery and redistribution operations.

The methodology aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably SDG 13 (Climate Action) by fitting climate change impacts, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by reducing food waste, and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by redirecting edible surplus to those in need.
