Countries across Latin America have significantly increased the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. However, translating climate commitments into concrete investments, sectoral transformation pathways and implementation strategies remains a major challenge.

At COP30, the Brazilian Presidency launched the Mutirão Global initiative, a call for collective action to accelerate climate implementation through collaboration among governments, financial institutions, the private sector, academia and civil society. The initiative highlights the importance of strengthening enabling environments, mobilizing climate finance, facilitating technology transfer, enhancing capacity building and promoting inclusive implementation processes.

Against this backdrop, the Regional Forum on NDC Implementation – Peer Exchange Workshop (PEW) will provide a strategic platform for countries in Latin America to strengthen coordination between climate and economic policy, exchange experiences on implementation approaches and explore opportunities to mobilize investment for climate action.

The workshop is organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in collaboration with the UN Climate Change secretariat through its Regional Collaboration Centre for Latin America (RCC Latin America), together with UNDP, CAF, IDB and the NDC Partnership, and with the support of IICA, UNEP, the Euroclima Programme through GIZ, the LEDS LAC Regional Platform and INCAE Business School.

It will bring together representatives from governments, multilateral development banks, academia, financial institutions, cooperation partners and the private sector to discuss practical solutions for advancing NDC implementation and supporting long-term low-emission development pathways.

The Forum is designed for technical-level representatives from 17 countries in Latin America, including the Dominican Republic, with participation from Ministries of Environment and climate change authorities, as well as Ministries of Finance, Treasury, Economy and Planning, reflecting the Forum’s focus on strengthening coordination between climate and economic policymaking.
