Raising Ambition through Partnership: Private Sector Engagement in NDCs
As countries develop their NDCs 3.0 and prepare for implementation, the mobilization of finance and investments from public and private sources will become a key priority for all countries. Of the approximately USD 2.4 trillion in investment needed per year by 2030 in developing countries (excluding China), at least USD 1 trillion is expected to come from the private sector (both domestic and external sources). The engagement of the private sector in NDC development and implementation is critical to any country's transformational climate action. While many countries are already receiving support from the NDC Partnership on private sector engagement, more support is needed to expand that engagement and the impact it has on mobilizing finance for NDCs.
This public webinar will convene countries and partners to explore how the NDC Partnership can increase private sector engagement support to developing country members for NDC action. Participants will discuss the insights from a new Insight Brief from the NDC Partnership Support Unit, including key trends in private sector engagement requests from developing countries, partner responses and opportunities to better integrate the private sector across all stages of NDC action. Drawing on the recommendations in the Insight Brief, the event aims to identify practical pathways for countries to strengthen their private sector engagement and mobilize finance for NDCs.
