COP30: Reflecting the Transition Away from Fossil Fuels in NDCs 3.0
At COP29, the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA) announced the launch of an NDC window under the USD 20 million BOGA Fund to support countries with analytical, policy and technical assistance to integrate the transition away from fossil fuels — as outlined in Paragraph 28 of the Global Stocktake (GST) — into their NDCs. This effort is being carried out in collaboration with the NDC Partnership. BOGA also announced its contribution to the NDC Navigator 3.0, working to develop guidance on NDC measures that support the implementation of the GST commitment to transitioning away from fossil fuels, building on the experience of BOGA governments and Fund countries.
One year on, BOGA and the NDC Partnership have brought together country representatives and partner institutions through a series of webinars and political and technical events, and launched a call for request for support letters (RSLs) under the BOGA Fund, which closed on 30 Sept.
This high-level panel event will report on progress, sharing updates on how BOGA members and Fund countries are reflecting Paragraph 28 in their NDCs and announcing the countries and programs that will benefit from support under the BOGA Fund NDC window.
Speakers will:
- Reflect on their pathways to integrating the transition away from fossil fuels in their NDCs 3.0 and implementing measures.
- Share next steps in implementation and identify analytical, policy, and technical needs.
- Discuss the value of partnerships for a just transition and how to speed and scale up action throughout the NDC 3.0 cycle.
