COP30: From Policy to Implementation: Zimbabwe's Article 6 Journey
Zimbabwe aims to host an important event at the NDC Partnership pavilion during the 2025 COP30 Climate Change negotiations, titled “From Policy to Implementation: Zimbabwe's Article 6 Journey”. This event will showcase Zimbabwe’s strategic approach to leveraging carbon markets as a pathway for achieving its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Participants will learn about Zimbabwe's readiness for Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, highlighting the development of a blockchain registry that ensures transparency and integrity in carbon credit trading. This innovative system enables secure tracking of emissions reductions while fostering trust among stakeholders.
The event will also present Zimbabwe's robust regulatory framework, which aligns with international standards and promotes sustainable development. By incorporating Article 6 mechanisms into its NDC 3.0, Zimbabwe demonstrates its commitment to enhancing climate resilience while engaging local communities in carbon market opportunities.
Through this platform, Zimbabwe invites dialogue with global partners, showcasing its proactive stance on climate action and the potential of carbon markets to drive economic growth and environmental sustainability. This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration and innovation in effectively addressing climate change challenges.
