COP30: Accelerating ASEAN Member States' Inclusive Low-Carbon Transition: Strengthening NDCs for Transformative Mitigation
Details
In line with the urgent global imperative to limit warming to 1.5°C, ASEAN is committed to enhancing the ambition and implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The Global Stocktake has underscored the gap between current pledges and the emissions reductions required, highlighting the need to unlock ASEAN member states' mitigation potential as a complement to adaptation efforts.
This side event will bring together experts to exchange insights and identify pathways to raise ambition and accelerate NDC implementation. Discussions will focus on opportunities to expand mitigation ambition across high-emission sectors, strengthen nature-based solutions and advance low-carbon technologies.
The event will also emphasise the critical role of climate finance in supporting ASEAN member states' mitigation and adaptation measures, guided by the ASEAN Climate Finance Access and Mobilisation Strategy. By showcasing best practices, resource mobilisation strategies, and Article 6 readiness, the event aims to provide practical recommendations for Parties preparing updated NDCs, while fostering dialogue, partnerships, and investment to enable a just and inclusive transition.
