COP28: Scaling Inclusive Green Finance and Carbon Markets in Emerging Markets

Carbon markets and green financing mechanisms play a pivotal role in mobilizing financing to achieve NDC and LTS goals. The session will showcase early mover country experiences with implementing carbon markets and green financing mechanisms and discuss challenges and opportunities from a developing country perspective. Furthermore, this session will discuss how the Global Climate Action Partnership and its regional platforms in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean are engaging with developing country governments, financial institutions, and private sector to address regulatory, technical, and capacity building challenges and opportunities and equip them with peer learning, trainings, and technical assistance to enter voluntary and compliant carbon markets and accelerate green financing at scale. This session is aimed at promoting knowledge exchange and exploring collaboration across practitioners working to accelerate green finance flows.
