Moldova

Overview

Moldova submitted its first Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in 2017, followed by an updated version in 2020. Most recently, in May 2025, Moldova submitted its NDC 3.0, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 75% below 1990 levels by 2035 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The NDC 3.0 prioritizes energy security, renewable energy expansion, grid modernization and efficiency upgrades across sectors — and mainstreams adaptation components as a goal to reach a sustainable level of social and economic development that is resilient to the impacts of climate change.

The NDC 3.0 was developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment.
