Sani Mahazou
Niger In-Country Facilitator
Sani Mahazou is the NDC Partnership In-Country Facilitator for Niger and is embedded within the Ministry of Environment and Fight against Desertification. He holds an Engineer diploma in Industrial Chemistry, with specialization in Environmental Engineering from the University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene in Algiers. Sani has thirty years of experience within the Department of Environment and served as the Head of the fight against pollution and nuisances division, the General Director of Environment and Sustainable Development, and has acted as focal point for Multilateral Environmental Agreements including the Montreal Protocol, the Basel Convention, and the Stockholm Convention. He was also member of Niger national group of expert’s negotiators during the UNFCCC Conference of Parties. Sani has carried out several consultancies on behalf of multilateral organizations such as UNDP, the World Bank, UNEP, UNIDO in connection with the normative and institutional framework of environmental policy in Niger, climate change, municipal solid waste, hazardous wastes, and chemicals.
