Jenny Mager
Country Engagement Specialist
Jenny is a climate change specialist working as a country engagement specialist based in Washington, D.C. She collaborates with governments and international organizations to support countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long-Term Climate Strategies (LTS).
Prior to joining the Support Unit, Jenny held several key leadership roles within the Ministry of Environment of Chile. As Head of the Climate Change Division, she spearheaded the implementation of Chile's Framework Law on Climate Change and managed the country's climate commitments. She also led the Mitigation Department, where she coordinated the design of Chile's mitigation strategies under the NDC and played a pivotal role in shaping the country's LTS.
With over 17 years of experience in climate change policy and international negotiations, Jenny has played an active role in the Paris Agreement discussions, including serving as a negotiator for Chile on the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) and the Global Stocktake (GST). She is also the former Chair of the Consultative Group of Experts (CGE) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). She holds a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and a degree in Geographical Civil Engineering from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.
