Imane Chafiq

Imane Chafiq is a Senior Country Engagement Specialist for francophone Sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA region. She is based at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat in Bonn, Germany.

She engages directly with governments to identify and prioritize their NDC implementation needs, facilitate access to international organizations and donors technical and financial support, while helping the countries establish effective coordination to achieve commitments under the Paris Agreement.  

Prior to joining the NDC Partnership, Imane served as Climate Technical Advisor with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) to the Moroccan Government, leading the implementation of a GHG reporting system and supporting the NDC and COP22 preparation. She has also worked on building African countries readiness for climate finance and the private sector engagement.

Imane holds a Master in Energy and Environmental Management from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, combined with a Msc Research Honors Programme Certificate.
