Overview

Mexico submitted its updated NDC in 2022. The country commits to an unconditional emissions reductions target of 35% and a conditional target of 40% by 2030. The updated NDC covers mitigation actions for land use and land use change, transport, energy, industry, oil and gas, agriculture, buildings, and waste as well as adaptation actions for resilience, conservation and restoration, management of water resources, and the protection of infrastructure and cultural patrimony. Mexico submitted a Mid-Century Strategy in 2016 to guide national climate action through 2050.

Partnership Engagement
  • Membership: member since 2017
  • Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Mexico has requested support related to improving the quality of the NDC. In addition, partners have supported NDC review and identification of green recovery polices to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the NDC and the Sustainable Development Goals.
