The Kyrgyz Republic became a member of the NDC Partnership in February 2018, appointing the State Agency of Environmental Protection and Forestry and the Ministry of Finance as Focal Points. A scoping mission of the NDC Partnership took place in October 2018, during which some of the priority areas for support have been identified. These include support for conducting assessment of risks and consequences of ratifying the Paris Agreement, and further support on development of a comprehensive Measurement, Reporting and Verification system for various sectors. Further to greenhouse emission reduction targets, the country puts significant importance on adaptation and has adopted a target of preventing further climate change damage and losses. A request for support for the implementation of the Kyrgyz Republic’s INDC is in preparation and is expected to be shared with the Partnership in 2019.
